A Perfect Day - All Over Everything (2004)

If you like girly pop rock, look no further than A Perfect Day. The Vancouver duo, named after (depending on the source) either the Lou Reed or PJ Harvey song of the same name, is comprised of Joseph Hrechka, formerly guitarist in Canadian indie rock group Mudgirl, and Janele Woodley, formerly one of the West End Girls, whose Definitive Collection has already been featured here. Their sound, produced by West End Girls' producer John Dexter, combines the best of both of their former acts, rock music with a heavy dose of pop sensibility. The two released three singles off of this: "Still Smiling", "Happiness" and "Pretty Ugly". None of these tracks exactly burned up the charts, and they released their album in a time when girl-fronted pop rock groups were popping up daily. They got lost in the fray. I was surprised to see, however, that they still record together, at least as of last year, and that they have a Myspace page. It appears that they had or have a second album in the works, but it apparently has yet to be released.
