Stacy Earl - Stacy Earl (1991)

Next up is Stacy Earl. The link to her feature on Milk Carton Pop Stars is below. Stacy is indeed perfect for this blog because, even though she had three Top 40 pop hits from this album, none reached the top 20. And then she never followed this up with another album and faded into obscurity. I'd love to know why. In terms of the music, I always thought of this as Paula Abdul lite. This is in part due to the fact that she hooked up with Paula producer Oliver Leiber, and recorded the very "Opposites Attract"ish "Romeo & Juliet" with The Wild Pair. Stacy had a better voice then Paula (well, who didn't?) but less unique character. And when competing with other pop tarts of the time like Elisa Fiorillo, Nia Peeples and Martika, you really needed something unique to stand apart from the crowd.
