froSTed (the ST was capitalized as a tribute to Star Trek) was a pop-punk 4-piece band that were heavier on the pop than the punk. They were formed by Go-Go Jane Wiedlin in the mid-90s. Jane, no doubt discouraged by her relatively minor success as a solo artist, wanted to pursue a new group with a focus on a more hip, current sound. Unlike the Go-Go's, Jane was backed by three men, though the sound was like a harder edged Go-Go's, in part due to some songs being co-written by Charlotte Caffey, a fellow Go-Go and creator of The Graces, also featured here. Producer Marc Waterman came on board to help Jane achieve her goal. He had had incredible success with Elastica and seemed the perfect person to bring Frosted to the fore-front of the alt-pop scene. Alas, neither of the singles "Call Me Crazy" or "Bed" caught on, and the album came and went with a whimper. Of course, Jane still continues on with her solo work and performs with other bands, most importantly the reformed Go-Go's, who started touring and recording together again in the early 2000's. In 2005 she also appeared on the reality show "Surreal Life", where she met her nemesis Da Brat and revealed her passion for bondage and domination!
