Aha! Finally a deserted pop artist that has some presence on the internet! Tricia Leigh Fisher is best known as the sister of actress Joely Fisher, the half-sister of actress/author Carrie Fisher, and the daughter of actress Connie Stevens and actor/singer Eddie Fisher. With a pedigree like that, it only makes sense that Tricia would pursue a showbiz career of her own. Alas, like her acting career, her singing career didn't get too far. But her one album is pop trash fun at it's best! Bolstered by production from producers extraordinaire Phil Harding, Ian Curnow and Rod Gammons, the album is a synthy, hiNRG dream! It's very SAW, like early Kylie with a kick. Like most of my featured artists so far, Tricia isn't particularly blessed with great vocals, but she makes up for it in spunk. The album stands out as a perfect example of what late '80's/early '90's pop was all about. It's really too bad this album didn't make Tricia a star, as a second album would have been greatly welcomed (by me at least!). Feast on this, pop trash lovers!!

ReplyDeleteBut of course you realize this is one of my faves of all time! I can't get enough of actresses who sing!
I LOVE your blog! Thanks for posting these obsure pop acts. How tragic is it that I just now found out that THE Tricia Leigh Fisher of Pretty Smart fame had a freaking album? You're providing a public service, keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteTRICIA, WHATS WITH THE MADONNA REFERENCE ON THE COVER? MAYBE A LITTLE MORE ORIGINALITY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN YOU FURTHER.

ReplyDeleteI had been looking for this one; I used to have it. I liked the Stock/Aitken/Waterman connection even back in the day. THANKS!
ReplyDeleteI just bought this after reading your blog.I remember seeing this in longbox-form in cut-out bins back in the 90's.How little I knew,I wish I would've picked it up years ago...
ReplyDeleteA highly enjoyable album that's dated in a good way.Tricia Leigh had a nice voice and it's a shame she didn't record further...
Don't mind this one, thanks!!!! Her voice reminds me of Ann Curless.

Hi I found your blog from researching Japanese 80s pop stars (my obsession), and I just thought I'd share this!
ReplyDeleteThe Japanese duo Wink covered Tricia's song "Let An Angel" as a B side on their 9th single (subsequently they did a lot of covers from European 80s artists and some disco).
It's renamed "mizu no seiza", translation "Water Constellation". Check it out! :) Click my name to download it.
Thanks so much! Cool!
ReplyDeleteShe also recorded a Christmas cd with Connie Stevens & Joely Fisher a few years back.
